4.3 Communicating in DSC (Digital Selective Call) Mode

The DIST-UTC setting is confirmed. Then CALL
CH is highlighted and the default channel (CH70)
displayed.
TIP
• The CALL CH can be set to a channel other
than CH70 (such as CH01 – CH28, CH60 –
CH88, except for CH75 and 76). However,
doing so is not advisable because DSC
watchkeeping is maintained only for CH70.
• TELECOMMAND and END OF SEQUENCE
cannot be edited.
• If selecting a channel other than CH70, press
ENTER
to confirm the selection.
Open the
DISTRESS
switch cover.
Press and hold
DISTRESS
key for
3 to 4 seconds.
When
DISTRESS
key is pressed, an intermittent
beeping tone sounds. If pressed continuously for
3 to 4 seconds, the beeping tone changes from
intermittent to continuous, and distress message
is transmitted.
If suspend pressing
DISTRESS
key while
intermittent beeping tone, distress message is not
transmitted.
"DISTRESS CALL" indication on LCD flashes
while intermittent beeping tone. If the key is
pressed continuously for 3 to 4 seconds, the
flashing "DISTRESS CALL" indication becomes
steady, and distress message is transmitted.
