OPERATION
4.3 Communicating in DSC (Digital Selective Call) Mode
Select a work channel and press
ENTER
.
• Example: To select CH10
Enter
1 0
.
• CALL CH is highlighted and default (CH70) is
displayed.
TIP
• The WORK CH can be set to any of the
following: CH01 – CH28, CH60 – CH88 except
CH16, CH70, CH75, and CH76.
• When making a G3E SIMP TEL call, selecting
an improper channel for simplex communication
results in an error. An error message appears,
an alarm sounds, and the display prompts work
channel entry again.
• For further information on simplex/duplex mode
and channel matching, refer to 8.2 Channel
Assignment Tables.
With simplex channels, the transmission
frequency and receiving frequency are the
same.
However, with duplex channels, each frequency
is different.
• The CALL CH can be set to a channel other
than CH70 (such as CH01 – CH28, CH60 –
CH88, except for CH75 and 76). However,
doing so is not advisable because DSC
watchkeeping is maintained only for CH70.
• END OF SEQUENCE is set to EOS and cannot
be edited.
Press
CALL
.
• The ALL SHIPS CALL Display appears and the
message is transmitted.
• When the message has been transmitted,
TRANSMITTED appears and CH10 is selected
as the work channel.
The work channel is automatically
displayed in 10 seconds.
The ALL SHIPS CALL Display disappears and
the work channel Status Display appears.
TIP
When the handset is picked up before the work
channel Status Display appears, the display
appears immediately.
