5-3 Replacing the Conveyor (Board Transport) Motor
1) Loosen the screws (4 pcs.) of the conveyor motor bracket and remove the timing belt from
the conveyor motor pulley to detach the conveyor motor together with the conveyor motor
bracket.
2) Loosen the setscrews (2 pcs.) of the conveyor motor pulley to detach it from the motor and
remove the screws (4 pcs.) to detach the motor from the conveyor motor bracket.
3) Mount a new motor on the conveyor motor pulley. Align the motor shaft end face with the
conveyor motor pulley end face, adjust one setscrew to the flat part of the motor shaft, apply
Loctite 243 to the screws, and tighten the screws.
4) Mount the conveyor motor on the conveyor motor bracket with the screws (4 pcs.).
5) Put the timing belt on the conveyor motor pulley and secure the screws (4 pcs.) of the
conveyor motor bracket temporarily.
6) Adjust the timing belt tension to 24N to 34N.
Use UNITTA’s sonic belt tension meter (Weight=2.5, Width=6.0, Span=68) for the
adjustment.
7) After adjusted, secure the screws (4 pcs.) of the conveyor motor bracket.
Note) Tension is stretched excessively. → Torque of the drive shaft increases, causing the
motor bearing to break.
Note) Tension is loosened excessively. → Pulley teeth skip, causing noise, or worn-out or
broken timing belt.
