Use the information in Table 26 on page 87 and Table 27 on page 87 to calculate power consumption for
various hardware configurations, input current from a different source voltage, and thermal output, as
shown in the following examples. These examples use maximum values per IOC.
Typical power consumption for DC-powered services gateways:
•
Minimum DC-powered configuration:
Base services gateway (nonredundant) + 1 SPC + 1 NPC =
375 W + 148 W + 80W = 603 W @ -48 VDC = 12.6 A
•
Maximum DC-powered configuration:
Base services gateway (redundant) + 7 SPCs + 3 NPCs + 2 IOC (max) + 1 SCM =
375 W + 7(148) W + 3(80) W + 2(65) W + 44 W =
375 W + 1036 W + 240 W + 130 W + 44 W = 1825 W @ -48 VDC = 38.0 A
•
Input current from a DC source other than -48 VDC (based on maximum configuration; applies to DC
power supply only):
(–54 VDC input) * (input current X) = (-48 VDC input) * (input current Y)
54 * X = 48 * 38.0 A
X = (48 *38.0)/54 = 33.8 A
•
Thermal output for maximally configured DC-powered services gateway:
Watts DC * 3.41= BTU/hr
1825 * 3.41 = 6223 BTU/hr
