User
Interface
Icon-based GUI
The new Graphical User Interface is easy to use and
understand providing complete scan information and
control and easy-to-find icons indicating functions.
Individual scan
folders
All information for a scan, including the point cloud,
trajectory, summary information, GNSS data, Stencil 2
parameters, and last pose is organized in individual sub-
folders. Subfolders can be renamed to suit individual jobs.
iPad included
View real-time scanning, perform operations, and manage
files on the iPad or with an optional HDMI display.
On-screen
keyboard
Change file names or make other changes directly on the
screen or when using a mouse with an external display.
Large Start/Stop
button
The large desktop toggle button makes it easy to
start/stop scanning.
Dialog boxes
Replacing the text entry-based tools with dialog boxes
provide a more user-friendly way to input information for
the playback, loop closure, and sharpening tools.
Current mode
indicator
The operating mode indicator shows which mapping or
localization mode is selected.
GNSS
Tighter GNSS
integration
Simplified instructions for integrating GNSS devices with
Stencil 2. Stencil 2 records GNSS data for use in loop
closure to geo-register datasets.
Easier localization
Localization map and last pose pointers provide more
intuitive operation when conducting multiple localization
mapping scans.
GNSS based
localization
starting position
GNSS data can be used to initialize starting position in
global coordinates when using a geo-referenced map.
Floor plans
and scan
summaries
Automated floor
leveling / cleaning
/ sectioning tool
Algorithms identify floor structures and smart-scan
leveling for better scans and reduced post-processing
time.
Summary
information
Summary of each scan: mode, distance, number of points,
start time, GNSS information, etc.
