transponderswithareleaseandaoatingcollar.
2Grabholdoftheropeattachedtotheoatingcollarandpullthetransponder
towardsyou.
3Avoidslammingthetransponderagainstsolidobjectsasitisliftedoutofthewater.
4Checkthetransponder’stemperature
Ifthetransducerisoverheatedgodirectlytotheemergencyprocedures.
5Checkthepressurereliefvalvetoseeifanychemicalreactionhasincreasedthe
pressureinthetranspondertosetitoff.
6Controlthetransponderforminimumtwohours.
Checkfordamagesthatcouldinvolveawaterleakage
andcheckthehousingtemperatureforapossible
temperatureincreaseinthelithiumbattery.
Forbatterieswithpossibledamages,gotothe
emergencyprocedureschapter.
7Washtheunitthoroughlyinwarmfreshwaterto
dissolveanysaltdepositsandcleanoffanysandorsilt.
8Asanextraprecaution,itisrecommendedthattheunitislefttosoakinfreshwater
toallowsalttodissolveanddiffusefromhard-to-reachareas,suchascrevices
betweenmatingparts.
Leavetheunittosoakfor24hours,oraslongaspracticalconditionsallow.
9Dryoff,sonowatercancomeinsidewhenopening.
10Turnthetransponderoffandstorethebatteriesoutsidethehousingifthe
transponderisnotusedforsometime.
