5. Once the coupling fluid has been purged, select the checkbox for Coupler Pump Off.
6. Inspect the bottle, bottle cap and seal ring for cracks, other damage, or foreign material that would cause a vacuum leak.
Replace if necessary.
7. Unscrew the cap on the coupling fluid bottle and remove the bottle from the bottle caddy and empty the purged coupling
fluid.
8. Visually inspect the used coupling fluid. It should not be cloudy or visually contaminated with algae or other substances.
Warning: If there is significant contamination, and/or signs of corrosion in the coupling fluid tubing, in the debubbler,
at the nosecone, or anywhere else, please call Labcyte Service and Support. For more information, see Contact Information.
9. Select the checkbox for Coupler Pump Direction Normal.
Clean and Refill the Coupling Fluid Bottle
Follow the steps below to clean and refill the coupling fluid bottle:
1. Clean the coupling fluid bottle and metal tubes.
1. Add Alconox or hand soap and water to the bottle.
2. Scrub the bottle with a plastic bristle bottle brush.
3. Thoroughly rinse the bottle to ensure there is no soapy residue. Use Type 1 Ultrapure Water for the final rinse.
4. Allow the bottle to dry, if possible, or alternate with another 1000 mL bottle.
2. Inspect the bottle, bottle cap and seal ring for cracks, other damage, or foreign material that would cause a vacuum leak.
Replace if necessary.
3. Inspect the coupling fluid tube and attached flexible tubing for the presence of bubbles. If you see bubbles, you will need
to purge, then recycle the fluid through the system after you complete this procedure. For more information, see Purge the
Fluid Circuit.
4. Fill the coupling fluid bottle with 900 mL of Type 1 Ultrapure Water.
5. Return the cap and its attached tubing to the coupling fluid bottle.
6. Attach the cap securely to ensure a tight seal for vacuum (hand tighten) and return the refilled coupling fluid bottle to the
bottle caddy.
Caution: Before turning on the coupling fluid pump, ensure the following:
l Vacuum line is connected
l Vacuum system is operating correctly
l Cap on the fluid bottle is tightly sealed
Otherwise, the coupling fluid can flood the bottom of the system.
