5.4 Connecting the Shuttle Sampling Device
Ensure that the Shuttle sampling device is thoroughly cleaned before use. Give particular
attention to the milk tubes.
• The Shuttle sampling device must be connected by tubing to the automatic milk system.
• The lowest milk level in the system must be approximately 5 kg (11.02 lb).
• The milk should be mixed (bubbling) before sampling each milking.
• The milk delivery tube must deliver a reliable sample of the milk to be sampled, depending on the
model of spoon in use:
• 10 ml (0.34 oz).
• 18 ml (0.61 oz).
• 30 ml (1.01 oz).
• 50 ml (1.69 oz).
• The excess milk delivered must be able to be extracted through the milk delivery tube by means of
vacuum, and in particular, without leaving any residual milk in the tube.
