Note:IfthereisanyPCIecardinstalledonthesystemboard,itmightblockyouraccesstotheheatsink
andfanassembly.Inthiscase,removethePCIecard.See“RemovingaPCIecard”onpage62.
4.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheheatsinkandfanassemblytothesystemboard.Itis
recommendedthatyoucarefullyremovethefourscrewsfromthesystemboardusingthefollowing
methodtoavoidanypossibledamagetothesystemboard.
a.Partiallyremovescrew1,thencompletelyremovescrew2,andthenreturntoscrew1and
completelyremoveit.
b.Partiallyremovescrew3,thencompletelyremovescrew4,andthenreturntoscrew3and
completelyremoveit.
Note:Thefourscrewsareintegratedpartsoftheheatsinkandfanassembly.Donottrytoremovethe
fourscrewsfromtheheatsinkandfanassembly.

5.GentlytwisttheheatsinkandfanassemblytofreeitfromtheCPU,andthenlifttheheatsinkand
fanassemblyoffthesystemboard.
6.Ifyouareinstructedtoreturntheoldheatsinkandfanassembly,followallpackaginginstructionsand
useanypackagingmaterialsthataresuppliedtoyouforshipping.
