•Iftheserverhasredundantpower,eachofthepowersupplybayhasaredundantpowersupplyinstalled,
oronebayhasaredundantpowersupplywhiletheotherbayiscoveredbyashield.
•Leaveadequatespacearoundtheservertoensurethattheservercoolingsystemworkswell.Leave
approximately50mm(2inches)ofopenspacearoundthefrontandrearoftheserver.Donotplace
objectsinfrontofthefans.
•Forpropercoolingandairflow,installtheservercoverbeforeyouturnontheserver.Operatingtheserver
withtheservercoverremovedformorethan30minutesmightdamageservercomponents.
•Properlyroutethecables.Forsomeoptions,suchasPCIecards,followthecablinginstructionsthat
comewiththeoptionsinadditiontotheinstructionsinthismanual.
•Ensurethatyoureplaceafailingfanassoonasyouremovetheoldone.
•Whenreplacingahot-swapdrive,installthenewhot-swapdriveassoonasyouremovetheoldone.
Workinginsidetheserverwiththepoweron
Attention:Staticelectricitythatisreleasedtointernalservercomponentswhentheserveristurnedonmightcause
theservertohalt,whichmightresultinthelossofdata.Toavoidthispotentialproblem,alwaysuseanESDwriststrap
orothergroundingsystemwhenyouworkinsidetheserverwiththepoweron.
Theserversupportshot-swapdevicesandisdesignedtooperatesafelywhileitisturnedonandthecoveris
removed.Followtheseguidelineswhenyouworkinsidetheserverwiththepoweron:
•Avoidwearingloose-fittingclothingonyourforearms.Buttonlong-sleevedshirtsbeforeworkinginside
theserver;donotwearcufflinkswhileyouareworkinginsidetheserver.
•Donotallowyournecktieorscarftohanginsidetheserver.
•Removejewelry,suchasbracelets,necklaces,rings,andloose-fittingwristwatches.
•Removeitemsfromyourshirtpocket,suchaspensandpencils.Theseitemsmightfallintotheserveras
youleanoverit.
•Avoiddroppinganymetallicobjectsintotheserver,suchaspaperclips,hairpins,andscrews.

Toremovetheservercover,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrives.Then,turnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.
2.Disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.
3.Disconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
4.Removeanylockingdevicethatsecurestheservercover,suchasapadlockoranintegratedcable
