Attention: Visually inspect the removed Torx T30 nut, if the nut is cracked or damaged, make
sure no debris or broken pieces are left inside the server.
After you finish
1. Install a new Torx T30 nut. See “Install a heat sink Torx T30 nut” on page 170.
2. Proceed to complete the parts replacement (see
“Complete the parts replacement” on page 282).

Install a heat sink Torx T30 nut
Follow the instructions in this section to install a PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) Torx T30 nut on the heat sink.
About this task
Attention:
Go over
“Installation Guidelines” on page 137 to ensure that you work safely.
Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Do not touch the processor contacts. Contaminants on the processor contacts, such as oil from your skin,
can cause connection failures.
Note: The heat sink, processor, and processor carrier for the system might be different from those shown in
the illustrations.
Procedure
Step 1. Install the Torx T30 nut.
