8.3 Battery Pack Removal
When removing the battery pack on the Ludlum Model 9DP, be careful to
lift the battery pack from the rear (the end opposite the contacts). Lifting
the battery pack from the side can cause a short circuit and a large current
to flow from the battery pack. The contacts will become hot, and damage
to the battery pack may follow. Please refer to the diagrams below:
8.4 Optional Alkaline Battery Pack
Ludlum offers an optional battery pack that utilizes “AA” size alkaline batteries in
lieu of the supplied NiMH type for extended use of the instrument if you cannot
wait to recharge. See Options, Section 11, for more detail.
Warning!
Do not attempt to replace the NiMh batteries in the rechargeable
battery pack with alkaline batteries. An explosion could occur if
the instrument is plugged into the wall charger. A non-
rechargeable battery pack is available from Ludlum Measurements,
Inc.
