MODEL 9DP-1 Operators Manual
Ludlum Measurements, Inc. 56 December 2015
10.3 Alkaline Battery Pack
The alkaline battery pack is a convenient way to keep the instrument running
for extended periods beyond the battery life of the NiMH pack whenever
circumstances warrant this need. Users can swap the NiMH battery pack for
a special holder designed for AA size alkaline batteries very quickly in the
field. The alkaline battery pack design prevents inadvertent charging, should
the charger be plugged into the instrument.
Part Number: 4543-028
Warning!
Do not attempt to replace the NiMh batteries in the rechargeable
battery pack with alkaline batteries. An explosion could occur if
the instrument is plugged into the wall charger. A non-
rechargeable battery pack is available from Ludlum Measurements,
Inc.
10.4 Check Source
Ludlum recommends a 10 µCi
137
Cs check source be used for verifying the
detector response prior to each use. The source is encapsulated inside of a
2.5 cm x 2.5 mm (1.0 x 0.10 in.) plastic disk.
Part Number: 01-5231
Note: Ludlum also offers a 0.25 µCi
137
Cs source for countries with lower
exempt criteria. This can be purchased under Part Number: 01-5723.
Note: Ludlum also offers other sources. Please contact us, one of our
representatives, or visit www.ludlums.com for more information.
