MODEL 9DP-1 Operators Manual
Ludlum Measurements, Inc. 49 December 2015
Battery Power
The unit is powered by eight “AA NIMH (nickle-metal hydride) rechargeable
batteries. Use of rechargeable batteries helps to keep operating costs down.
Battery life largely depends upon the LCD backlighting and USB port usage,
resulting in a range spanning between 12 to 30 hours. A typical scenario at 60%
backlighting and not using the USB port will result in battery life of almost 19
hours. At zero backlighting, as in the case of outdoor operation under good
sunlight conditions, with no USB activity, the battery life will attain nearly 30
hours.
It is important to note that this instrument design consumes power even when
the instrument is shut off. A very miniscule supply of power is consumed by the
microprocessor to allow sensing of the power-on button command by the user.
The battery will therefore drain after several months even with no usage.
A wall outlet type battery charger is supplied with the instrument and includes
multiple plug adapters to accommodate the different styles used throughout the
world. The adaptor is easily changed out by pressing the button labeled “PUSH
on the charger below the plug adaptor, which releases it to be slid out. Then one
can slide in the adaptor until it snaps for the style needed.
