7 Troubleshooting
The following remedies are recommended in the
case of errors:

There are not 5 peaks and 5 valleys
present in each sampling length.
If necessary, select a longer traversing
length.
For RSm:
Arithmetic mean roughness Ra is
≤ 0.4 % of the meas uring range.
No remedy.
For R, AR, Rx, W:
Evaluation of the motifs produces
no roughness or waviness.
Check the setting of operators A
and B.
With Rpk, Rk, Rvk, Mr1, Mr2, A1,
A2:
Total height − Rt of the R-profile
is ≤ 0.8 % of the meas uring
range.
No remedy.
Less than 10 classes of the ma- −
terial ratio distribution are with-
in the range of the core profile.
No remedy.
Material ratio curve is not −
S-shaped as stipulated by ISO
13565-2.

Battery symbol
is displayed
Battery is nearly empty. Charge the battery; approx. 7 hours
(M 300) or 1 hour (RD 18) is required
to charge the battery to full capacity.
When the instrument is switched on,
more time is required for charging.
Instrument not
working after a
battery change
Battery has not been inserted cor-
rectly.
Open the instrument, take out the
battery and replace it according to the
description (see Section 9.2).
