6 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
6.1 Installation of Electronical Unit
ATTENTION
When installing the P1 electronic unit, it is necessary to respect some basic safety rules:
• The parts of the gauging system (electronic unit, measuring head, connection cables) must be
accessible and positioned so as not to hinder the correct operation of the machine tool and the
movements of the operator.
• Connect the P1 to the centre of mass of the machine tool it is installed on (see para. 3.3.2).
• The operations relevant to the electric connections of the electronic unit must be carried out
supplying the correct voltages, as indicated in this book.
ATTENTION
The plastic protection covers should only be removed from the connectors on the unit when
inserting the corresponding flying leads, and must be replaced if it is necessary to disconnect
the leads for any reason.
Take care not to touch the connector pins, either directly or via the wires of the flying leads
when removing or replacing the plastic covers, even if the P1 unit is switched off.

To guarantee the maximum reading precision of the gauge, position the unit
so that it is
perfectly horizontal.
