How to Make a Yoke Bar
1. Measure dimensions A and B of the yoke you are servicing.

2. Calculate dimensions C and D of the yoke bar by adding
0.125-0.250-inch (3.175-6.35 mm) to dimensions A and B of
the yoke. Figure 9.2.

WARNING
Wear safe clothing and eye protection when you use welding
equipment. Welding equipment can burn you and cause
serious personal injury. Follow the operating instructions and
safety procedures recommended by the welding equipment
manufacturer.
3. To make the box section, cut and weld 1-inch x 2-inch
(25.4 mm x 50.8 mm) of mild steel square stock according to
dimensions C and D. Figure 9.2.
4. Cut a 4-foot x 1.25-inch (1.21 m x 31.75 mm) piece of mild
steel round stock to make the yoke bar handle. Center weld
this piece to the box section. Figure 9.2.
To increase yoke bar rigidity: Weld two angle pieces onto
the handle. Figure 9.2.
