7.2 Problems
The following list describes some general problems that might occur dur-
ing measurements. Furthermore, the possible causes and solution
approaches are described.
NOTE
Sensor treatment
Follow the instructions given in the respective leaflets for sensors clean-
ing and maintenance.
7.2.1 Troubleshooting
Problem
Cause Remedy
Measured value set-
ting is sluggish.
The glass membrane or the
diaphragm is contam-
inated.
Clean the electrode following the instruc-
tions in the leaflet.
No measuring sig-
nal.
The sensor is not
connected.
Connect the sensor.
The sensor is defective. Replace the sensor.
The cable is defective. Replace the cable.
The electrode's reference
system contains air.
Repair the electrode following the instruc-
tions in the leaflet.
The measuring input
and/or the measuring
channel is defective.
Send the measuring instrument to your
regional Metrohm service representative for
checks and, if necessary, repair.
The measured value
drift criterion is not
fulfilled.
The glass membrane or the
diaphragm is contam-
inated.
Clean the electrode following the instruc-
tions in the leaflet.
The pH value or the temp-
erature of the measuring
solution is not stable.
Do not wipe the sensor with a cloth.
Control the temperature of the measuring
solution.
The measurement takes
place in an organic solu-
tion.
Use the correct sensor.
