Problem Cause Remedy
A non-Metrohm power
supply unit is connected.
■ Use only the power supply unit provided
during measurement operation.
The measured value
is evidently wrong.
The pH calibration is faulty. ■ Check and repeat the calibration.
■ Check and/or replace the buffers.
■ Check the buffer selection in the settings.
The temperature specifica-
tion is incorrect.
■ Enter the correct measuring temperature.
The glass membrane or the
diaphragm is contam-
inated.
■ Clean the membrane or the diaphragm fol-
lowing the instructions in the correspond-
ing leaflet.
The electrolyte is overaged. ■ Replace the electrolyte.
The sensor is defective. ■ Replace the sensor.
The slope is insuffi-
cient during calibra-
tion.
The glass membrane or the
diaphragm is contam-
inated.
■ Clean the electrode following the instruc-
tions in the leaflet.
The hydrated layer of the
glass membrane is reduced
by anhydrous solutions.
■ Immerse the glass membrane in deionized
water for 5 min to restore the hydrated
layer.
The buffer solutions are not
OK.
■ Replace the buffer solutions.
The sensor is "worn out". ■ Replace the sensor.

The following error messages may appear during calibration:
Error message
Meaning
NOT STABLE
The button was pressed during an unsta-
ble signal. Wait for the stability signal to
confirm the calibration point.
WRONG BUFFER The buffer is contaminated or is not a member
of one of the detected buffer families.
SLOPE OUT OF RANGE The slope of the calibration curve is outside the
accepted range between 80% and 120%.
