measure distance (J) between mounting block and
center of take-up bearing.
11. For conveyor belt to be centered left to right in
hopper frame, distance (J) must be same on both
discharge ends.
12. On hopper back side of both discharge ends, turn
square head cap screws (I) to make distance (J)
same.

13. On hopper front side of both discharge ends,
measure distance (K) between mounting block and
center of motor mount.
14. On hopper front side of both discharge ends, turn
square head cap screws (I) to make distance (K)
same.
15. On each discharge end, distance J must equal
distance K.
16. Adjust square head cap screws (I) to obtain equal
distances for J and K.
17. Turn all square head cap screws (I) by equal
turns to move both drive rollers outward. This will
increase belt tension.
18. Check conveyor belt tension by measuring distance
(A) as in step 1 and running belt as in steps 3-6.
19. Tighten jam nuts (H) against all mounting blocks.
20. On non-discharge end, install chain cover
assemblies (E) and bolts (D).

When Sideboard Rubbers Are Removed And Chain
Is Accessible
After installing conveyor belt, adjust take up bearings
on both sides until chain can be lifted up approximately
1¾ inches at center of machine. Tighten jam nuts.
When Sideboard Rubbers Are Left In Place
1. Adjust take up bearings evenly on both sides to
approximately 30 lb/ft of torque.
2. Back off bolt ½ turn on both sides.
3. Tighten jam nuts.
4. If torque wrench is not available, see 6.3.1 for steps
to adjust belt tension.
5. Sideboard rubbers must just touch belt. A gap will
allow asphalt to enter roller chain area. If sideboard
rubbers are pre-loaded against belt, rapid belt wear
will occur.
6.4.2 Adjust sCrAper
Conveyor belt scraper adjustment is critical to belt wear.
Scraper mounts have rubber torsion springs inside so
it will spring out and back when splice comes around.
Scraper must be adjusted so that a sheet of paper
slides between belt and scraper. However, if contact is
desired, adjust for absolute minimum contact pressure.
Scraper must be cleaned to remove accumulated
stones and grit at the end of each day while it is still
soft. This includes underside edge, which can act like a
cutting edge with stone buildup. The same is true with
the adjustable end gate seal.
6.4.3 Adjust end GAtes
On discharge side, gate must be opened all the way. If
not, material ow is restricted and material slippage on
belt will increase, resulting in high belt wear.
