Introduction Regional Oxygen Saturation (rSO2) (Optional)
3 - 2 Addendum to V Series Operating Instructions
3.1 Introduction
This chapter describes how to obtain Regional Oxygen Saturation (rSO2) values from a INVOS 5100C
System Monitor, and how to configure the alarm responses for this device at the V 12/V 21 monitor.
The INVOS system provides non-invasive and continuous information of changes in regional oxygen
saturation of blood. The measurement takes place in real time, providing an immediate indication of
a change in the critical balance of regional oxygen delivery and oxygen consumption. Refer to the
INVOS
®
5100C Cerebral/Somatics Oximeter Operating Manual for parameter specifications.
Patient Sizes
Intended patient types: Adult, Pediatric, and Neonate.
VDI Module Connector
The VPS module does not include the rSO2 parameter. The rSO2 parameter is available through the
serial port of a separate module called the V Device Integrator (VDI) (as shown in FIGURE 3-1).

Display Setup
To see the rSO2, the rSO2 tile must be configured to display on the Main Screen. Refer to "Display
Options Dialog" on page 3-2 in the V Series Operating Instructions for additional information.
3.2 rSO2 Configuration
The rSO2 dialog (as shown in FIGURE 3-2) contains an Alarms tab and a Setup tab.
A description of each tab follows.
3.2.1 Navigating to the rSO2 Dialog
• Select the rSO2 digital tile.
OR
1. Select the Set
up tab from the Navigation Area.
2. Select the Parameters button.
3. Select the rSO2 butt
on.
