CHAPTER 3 HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Hardware Installation
Overview
This chapter describes the following procedures that must be performed sequentially to complete the
hardware installation:
1. Installing the EX Controller
2. Installing Telephony Cards
3. Cabling

Requirements
Location
• Install the controller:
– In a standard 48.26 cm (19 in.) equipment rack
– On a flat surface (such as a desk or a table)
• Do not install the controller in a location exposed to direct sunlight or near stoves or radiators. Exces-
sive heat could damage the internal components.
• The controller should be positioned to be accessible for future upgrade, maintenance, and trouble-
shooting and where cables can be easily connected.
• Maintain a minimum of 25 mm (1 in.) clearance in the front, back, on top, under, and on sides of the
controller.
