INTRODUCTION – SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Mitel RFP 4x (RFP 44, RFP 45, RFP 47 and RFP 48) SIP-DECT Multi-Cell system is a
VoIP solution that supports DECT phones (Mitel 612/622/632 DECT phones).
HARDWARE SETUP
The base-stations are mounted on walls or desks. Radio coverage can be extended using
additional base stations.
The base-station antenna mechanism is based on a space diversity feature which improves
coverage. The base-stations use the complete DECT MAC protocol layer and IP media
stream audio encoding feature to provide up to five simultaneous calls, depending on other
DECT solutions deployed in the same environment.
COMPONENTS OF MITEL SIP-DECT MULTI-CELLSYSTEM
The system is made up of (but not limited to) the following components:
• Mitel 612/622/632 DECT Phone and charging cradle.
• RFP 4x (RFP 44, RFP 45, RFP 47 and RFP 48) base station connected over an IP
network and using DECT as air-core interface
• OpenMobility Manager (OMM): Provides a Web service for system configuration
for the SIP-DECT solution, which runs on one of the DECT base stations or on a
dedicated Linux server (for large installations). In addition, a standby OMM can
be configured to ensure OMM function in case of failure or loss of network
connection.

MITEL 612 DECT HANDSET
The Mitel 612 DECT phone is a lightweight, ergonomic, and portable DECT-compatible
handset that complies with the Generic Access Profile standard. It uses narrowband codecs.
The handset includes a color display with graphical user interface. It can also provide the
subscriber with most of the features available for a wired phone, in addition to its roaming and
handover capabilities. A handset is hosted only by the base station to which it is registered.
MITEL 622 DECT HANDSET
The Mitel 622 DECT phone is equipped with a Bluetooth interface for cordless headsets and
supports an optional micro SD card to save important data, ensuring information can be easily
transferred to different handsets. The Mitel 622 DECT Phone is GAP standard compliant and
supports firmware download over air to keep your handsets up to date while minimizing IT
involvement.
MITEL 632 DECT HANDSET
The Mitel 632 DECT phone is dust and jet water protected and may be used outside or in
rough industrial environments. The device satisfies the industrial standard IP 65. It is very easy
