Why doesn't the OPTICOM 764 controller cycle to the correct green when a call is placed?

  If the OPTICOM Recording Equipment controller does not cycle to the correct green when a call is placed, the controller may not be programmed correctly, so program the controller. Ensure that the preempt inputs are enabled. It's possible that there are excess timing delays or minimum times programmed in the preempt routine, so program the controller to respond to a priority request as quickly and safely as possible. Check that the phase selector output wiring is correct. Connect the phase selector Logic Common and/or Opto-Common to the controller’s Logic Common. Ensure that the phase selector outputs are assigned correctly and that the controller interface (D connector) wiring is correct.

  If the Phase selector Status will not light on your OPTICOM Recording Equipment, check the wiring to ensure it's correct and verify that the phase selector is receiving either 120 VAC or 24 VDC. If the wiring is correct, a faulty Radio/GPS unit or IR Detector could be the cause; disconnect and replace these units to test. If the issue persists, the phase selector itself may have failed.

  If the Call to controller will not drop on your OPTICOM Recording Equipment, you may have a long call hold time or lost signal hold time programmed. Try reducing the hold time. Ensure the vehicle is not in disable mode by activating the vehicle disable switch. It is also possible that the phase selector or controller input has failed, requiring replacement. In some cases, the rear COM port may be enabled.

  If the RADIO LED is off on your OPTICOM Recording Equipment, start by checking the wiring at both ends of the radio/GPS cable. Ensure the radio/GPS cable connector (terminal block) is plugged in correctly. If the cable is damaged or has poor terminations, replace it or redo the terminations. Check the voltage between the violet (+) and violet/white (–) wires; it should be approximately 9.0 VDC. In some cases, the Radio/GPS unit or phase selector may have failed, requiring you to return the unit for service.

  If the Call LED lights and the controller responds, but the green light is not granted in time with your OPTICOM Recording Equipment, check the phase selector timing to ensure there's no call delay in either the phase selector or the controller. Ensure the controller is correctly programmed so that preemption routines respond as quickly and safely as possible. Increasing the range and/or ETA might also help. If the approach map isn't long enough or is drawn incorrectly, redraw it. If the call was placed but then dropped, and the Radio/GPS unit's reception is obstructed, move the unit or increase the lost signal timeout.
