Oil Level Is Low
This procedure is only applicable to engines with an
oil level switch.
Use this procedure if one of the following event codes
is active.

The engine oil level has dropped below the level of the switch
for the time specified in the ECM.
The code is logged.
The engine is derated.

E173 (3) Engine Oil Level : Low - most severe (3)
The engine oil level has dropped below the level of the switch
for the time specified in the ECM.
The code is logged.
The engine is derated and may shut down.
Probable Causes
• Low engine oil level
• Problem with an electrical connection or with the
wiring
