During troubleshooting of a certain code, other codes
may become active or logged because of the
troubleshooting steps, tripping the anti-tampering
element of the diagnostics. Clear these codes after
completion of the troubleshooting and only perform
troubleshooting if a code has become persistent.
During troubleshooting, refer to the Electrical
Schematic for the application.
Inspect all harness connections before any
component is replaced. If these connections are not
clean and secure, continuous electrical faults or
intermittent electrical faults can occur. Check that the
wires are pushed into the connections completely.
Make sure that the connections are tight before other
tests are performed.
Failure of an electrical component may cause the
failure of other components. Always attempt to
correct the cause of an electrical failure before you
replace a component. If wire insulation is punctured,
repair the damage. Seal the damaged wires with
silicone sealant. Cover the sealant with two layers of
electrical tape.
Follow the Test Steps as directed by the results of
each step.
