This override allows the service technician to disable
the inducement to troubleshoot problems. Factory
passwords are required to activate this override.
Once the override is activated, navigation to other
electronic service tool functions is possible. Usually,
the Engine Emissions Operator Inducement Service
Mode Override will not need to be activated because
the service tests performed in the applicable
troubleshooting procedure will automatically reset the
inducement. The Engine Emissions Operator
Inducement Service Mode Override is located in the
Diagnostic Tests , System Troubleshooting
Section of the engine ECM.

Troubleshooting Test Steps
Values Results
1. Connect the Electronic Service Tool
A. Connect the electronic service tool.
B. Activate the Service Inducement Override in the electronic
service tool.
Refer to Service Override Mode listed below for details pertaining
to the Service Override.
Service Induce-

Result: The Service Inducement Override has been
activated.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check for Associated Codes
A. Use the electronic service tool to check for associated diagnos-
tic codes.

Result: Associated codes are logged or active.
Troubleshoot the associated codes. Refer to Trouble-
shooting, “Diagnostic Trouble Codes” or Troubleshooting,
“Event Codes” for the proper procedure.
DEF Tank Level Inducement
DEF Tank Level Fault Occurrence
Two options are available but only one option will be
enabled.
Option 1
If the DEF level falls below 20%, an amber indicator
will illuminate below the DEF level gauge on the
panel. To avoid further inducements, add DEF to the
DEF tank.
If the DEF level falls below 14%, the Emissions
System Malfunction lamp will illuminate. The amber
indicator next to the DEF level gauge on the panel
will remain lit.
If the DEF level is reading 3.5%, the Emissions
System Malfunction lamp will flash. The amber
indicator below the DEF level gauge on the panel will
remain lit. The engine may be derated by 25%
torque.
When the DEF tank is empty, the following
indications will be present:
The Emissions System Malfunction lamp will flash
The Shutdown lamp will be on
The engine will be derated by 50% torque. After 5
minutes in this condition the engine will then stop
or be restricted to low idle.
The amber indicator below the DEF level gauge
on the panel will be lit.
