When the link between Switch A and Switch B is failing, BFD can detect it immediately and notifies RIP to
delete the learnt route.
45.3.3 Example for Linkage of BFD and VRRP
Example:
When the master is failing, the backup cannot become the master until the configured timeout timer expires.
The timeout is generally three to four seconds and therefore the switchover is slow. To solve this problem,
VRRP uses BFD to probe the state of the master. Once the master fails, the backup can become the new
master within 100 ms.
Configuration procedure:
# Configure Switch A
Switch#config
Switch(config)#bfd mode active
Switch(config)#interface vlan 2
Switch(config-ip-vlan2)#ip address 192.16.0.101 255.255.255.0
Switch(config)#router vrrp 1
