3.1.2.9 Spare Connectors
J12 is a 9 pin D subminiature female receptacle and J13 is a 15 pin D subminiature female receptacle that
are designated as spare connections at the back panel of the RC4500. These connectors are generally
not used and are intended for future expansion.
3.1.2.10 Serial Remote Control
When a serial remote control option is included, the spare connector J12 is utilized. The RC4500 may be
configured to communicate either by the RS-232 or RS-422 standards.
The serial remote control port may be configured for RS-232 or RS-422 by software. Further information
regarding the use of the serial remote control port can be found in the Serial-Based Remote Control
Appendix.
Note: Serial & IP remote control are mutually exclusive.
