4.1 Software Initialization
From the factory, the RC4500 will arrive with all configuration items in the default state. To return the
RC4500 to this default state, the use of the RESET DEFAULTS configuration screen may be used. See
section 5.2.1.3.11 of the RC4500 manual for further information regarding the use of RESET DEFAULTS.
When performing a typical installation, it is recommended to change the EXPERT ACCESS PERMISSION
level to 3-SUPER user level, which will allow the user to access all configuration screens. See
section
5.2.1.1.1 of the RC4500 manual for further information regarding the use of the EXPERT ACCESS
configuration screen. The 5 digit codes used to change the expert access levels may be found in
Appendix A.

4.1.1 Mount LAT/LON Definition
Following the power on screen, the RC4500 transitions to the appropriate screen based on whether or not
a mount position (latitude and longitude) has been entered.
If the mount’s position has been previously entered via the LAT/LON mode (
2.2), no screen will appear
and the RC4500 will automatically transition to the mode defined by the INITIAL MODE configuration item
in the SYSTEM DEFINITION screen (5.2.1.3.1).
If no mount position has been entered (typically following a RESET DEFAULTS or LOCATION RESET),
the following screen appears to prompt the user to enter a lat/lon.
LAT/LON
LAT: LON:
ENTER LATITUDE DEGREES (+dd.dddd)
After entering the latitude and longitude, the RC4500 will transition to the INITIAL MODE.
