hand. Otherwise, it could open when you are cycling, which could
lead to the seatpost coming loose and causing you to fall. If you close
the quick-release skewer too tightly, the seatpost can break; if this
happens when you are cycling, you could fall.

1. Open the quick-release skewer by
swinging the lever by 180˚. You will
now usually be able to see the word
‘OPEN’ on the inside of the lever.
2. Close the quick-release skewer by
swinging the lever by 180˚. You will
now usually be able to see the word
‘CLOSE’ on the outside of the lever.
