Mounting locations for hard disk drives in the RAID5 system
Unlike a RAID1 system, hard disk drives can only be installed on the front in the removable
tray for a RAID5 system.
Note
Replacement of a hard disk drive in the removable tray and in the RAID system can be
performed without switching off the device.
The new hard disk drive can be integrated into the RAID5 system at operating system level
with the RAID software.
Synchronization may take several hours, depending on system load.
The following figure shows a RAID5 system with three hard disk drives as an example in the
removable tray.
