Whenevermorethanonehydroacousticsystemisinstalledonavessel,interference
mayoccur.TheEK80offersfunctionalityforremotetransmitsynchronization.Itcan
besetuptooperateineitherMasterorSlavemode.Synchronizationisrequiredin
ordertoavoidinterferenceiftheEK80isusedsimultaneouslywithotherhydroacoustic
instrumentswithinthesamefrequencyrange.YoudonotneedtodothistestiftheEK80
shallonlyoperateinStandalonemode.
Prerequisites
TheEK80isinstalledasspeciedintheEK80Installationmanual.Tomakesurethat
thetheinterfaceisfunctional,arelevantsynchronizationsystemmustbeconnected
totheEK80.
•TheEK80systemisturnedonandoperatesnormally.
•For"slave"operation,aremotesystem(forexampleK-SyncorSimradTU40)must
beavailabletoprovidetriggerpulses.
•For"master"operation,aremotehydroacousticsystem(sonar,echosounder)is
connected.Thisremotesystemmustbesetupin"slave"mode.
•Thevesselisberthed.
Neithertoolsnorinstrumentsarerequired.
Context
Whenevermorethanonehydroacousticsystemisinstalledonavessel,interferencemay
occur.Toavoidinterference,youhavetheseoptions:
•Thesystemsareallconnectedtoacommonsynchronizationsystem.
•Oneoftheacousticsystemsissetupas"master",andcontrolsthetransmissionson
theothersystems.
