ordertoadjusttheechogrampresentationstothisuse,theBeamDirectionfunctionis
introduced.Unlikethepresentationonatraditionalshndingechosounder,youcan
selectUpwardsmode.Thepresentationisthenadjustedforatransducerlocatedatthe
bottomoftheechogramlookinguptowardstheseasurface.

InordertousetheEK80,theProcessorUnitmustbeconnectedtooneormore
transceivers,andeachofthemmustinturnbeconnectedtooneormoretransducers.
Eachchannelmustbeinstalledbeforeitcanbeputtouse.Inthiscontext,thephrase
channelisusedasacommontermtoidentifythecombinationoftransceiver,transducer
andoperatingfrequency.
Prerequisites
TheEK80isinstalledasspeciedintheEK80Installationmanual.Allunitsareturned
on.
•Allcablesareconnectedandtested.
•Thesoftwarelicenseforeachtransceiverisinstalledandactivated.
•TheEthernetadapterintheProcessorUnitissetupwithauniqueIPaddress.
•AllrelevanttransducersareinstalledusingtheTransducerInstallationpage.
Context
TheTransceiverInstallationparameterscontroltheinstallationanddisconnectionof
transceivers.Everytimethepageisopened,theEK80softwareautomaticallyperformsa
searchontheEthernetnetworkfortransceivers.
ThelistintheupperpartontheTransceiverInstallationpageshowsyouanoverview
ofthetransceiversandchannelsthatarecurrentlyavailable.Inthiscontext,thephrase
channelisusedasacommontermtoidentifythecombinationoftransceiver,transducer
andoperatingfrequency.Eachchannelisidentiedbythetransceivertypeandserial
numberandthetransducer(s)inuse.Thecurrentstatusforeachchannelisalsoprovided.
•Busy:Thechannelisalreadyinuse,probablybyanotherechosounderonthesame
network.Y oucannotconnecttothischannel.
•Installed:ThischannelisconnectedtoyourEK80system.
•Lost:Thischannelcannotbeused.
