Sewing a
seam
Vou

sew seams easily
and
accurately
when vou followthe suggestionsbelow.
Placing fabric
under
foot
Most fabrics
can
be
placed
under the foot by
raising the pesserroot lifter(1)to itsnormal "Up"
position (2),where itlocksin place.
When using bulky fabric, multiple fabric layers
or an embroidery hoop, raise the lifter to the
high riseposition (3),thusincreasing the space
betweenthe root
and
the needleplote.

Basting
Pinbasting
and
handbasting are easy waysto
make temporary seams before machine
sewing.
o
To
pin baste, insert pins at stitching line.
NEVER
place
pins on the underside of fabric
in
contact
with the feed. Do not sew over
.pins;pull them out asvou stitch.
o
To
hand baste, make long stitches that
can
be easily removed.
Keeping
seams straight
To keep seorns straight, use one of the
guidelines on the needleplote.
o The
mostcommonly
used line
(1),
the 5/8
inch (1.6 cm) seam allowance. isextended
ontothe slideplote.
