USED PISTON MEASUREMENT
Using a micrometer, measure piston at A perpendic-
ularly (90°) to piston pin.
1. Measuring perpendicularly (90º) to piston pin axis

The measured dimension should be the same as
the one scribed on piston dome. If not, install a
new piston.
CYLINDER/PISTON CLEARANCE
Used and New Pistons
NOTE:
Make sure used piston is not worn. See
USED PISTON MEASUREMENT above.
Take the measurement on the piston dome.

2. Piston measurement
Adjust and lock a micrometer to the specified val-
ue on the piston dome.
1. Micrometer set to the piston dimension
With the micrometer set to the piston dimension,
adjust a cylinder bore gauge to the micrometer di-
mension and set the indicator to 0.
