INSTALLATION
Make sure that starter and engine mating surfac-
es are free of grime. Serious trouble may arise if
starter is not properly aligned.
Install starter.
NOTE:
Check proper engaging depth of starter
pinion teeth to ring gear teeth (see illustration). In-
stall hardened washers (P/N 503 0079 00) be-
tween engine and starter supports accordingly.
1. Screwdriver pulling starter pinion
2. Ring gear
3. No excessive backlash
A. 0.5 to 1.5 mm (.020 to .060 in)
Connect the RED battery cable and the RED wire
to the large terminal of the solenoid. Connect
RED/GREEN wire to small terminal of solenoid.
Connect BLACK cable to battery.

CAUTION
All starter bracket fasteners must be secured
with Loctite 271 (P/N 413 7074 00).
