SIM card lock
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
code consists of four to eight digits and is used
to protect your SIM card against unauthorized
use. You need it to access the SIM card. Your
PIN is supplied with the SIM card, but you can
change it using the
Locks menu. Your SIM
card lock
setting options are:
At power on – you will be requested to
enter your PIN code every time you turn
the phone on.
Off – the lock is turned off; no code will be
requested.
An error message displays when you enter an
incorrect PIN code. Usually, the SIM card will
be blocked after three incorrect attempts (the
number of attempts is determined by the
mobile network operator). To unblock the SIM
card, you must use your PUK code.
The PUK code consists of eight digits. After
you have entered the correct PUK code, you
must enter a new PIN code. You have ten
chances to enter the PUK code. If all ten
attempts fail, the SIM card will be unusable
and you must contact your mobile network
operator. You cannot change the PUK code.
The PIN2 code
Some special SIM card services, such as Call
meter and Fixed numbers, can be protected by
a secondary code feature, the PIN2 code. The
code properties are:
Although the four-to-eight digit
PIN2 code
cannot be disabled, you can change it
using the
Locks menu.
PIN2 will be blocked after three incorrect
attempts. To unblock the code, you must
enter your PUK2 code.
After 10 unsuccessful attempts to unblock
your PIN2, access to PIN2-protected SIM
features will be permanently blocked,
although you can still use the card.
Not every SIM card has a PIN2 lock.
Inactivity lock
You activate the Inactivity lock by marking the
check box and entering the requested
Phone
lock
code. This protects the screen from
accidentally being pressed. The screen will
automatically become locked after a 60-
second period of inactivity. To release it, touch
any key to display a dialog in which to enter
the
Phone lock code.
Automatic keylock
Marking the Automatic key lock check box
sets the keyboard to automatically lock after a
period of inactivity. This prevents you from
accidently entering key strokes. To release
keylock, press and hold the back button on the
phone's side or select
> Unlock.
