2.6 Safety devices
2.6.1 Shutter
The radiation outlet of the SPECTRO xSORT is equipped with a shutter.
The shutter will be closed automatically after the start of a measurement when
no sample is in front of the measurement window or
the button "Start measurement" or the enable button (for safety modes, see
chapter 2.5.1) has been released.
2.6.2 Protective sleeve
The protective sleeve prevents the lateral leakage of X-rays if:
the sample (in general, this applies to non-metallic samples) is completely
enclosed inside the protective sleeve.
the sample is not flush with the measuring head.
If this cannot be ensured, the radiation protection shield must be used in
addition for the measurement of non-metallic samples.
2.6.3 Docking Station
The use of the docking station prevents the occurrence of leakage radiation.
