3 Measurement of various materials
3.1 General
Depending on the sample material, thickness, and dimensions, different ways of
handling the sample and of using the protection equipment are recommended.
Samples must not be held in the hand during the measurement.
3.2 Measurement of metallic samples
The use of the radiation protection shield / the radiation protection plate is
recommended in particular for light-metal samples. When analyzing small
samples, we recommend using the adapter for small parts or the docking station.
3.3 Measurement of non-metallic samples
We recommend using the docking station.
If plastic or wood samples must be measured outside the docking station, ensure
that the radiation protection shield is used and that there are no persons in front of
the user in a semi-circle at a distance < 25 m.
The protective sleeve should enclose the sample as much as possible.
