► Hook the end of the trimmer line into one of the

► Repeat the winding process with the second 16.5ft. (5m)
length of trimmer line using the other eyelet(7) and
notch(6).
► Fit the spool(3) into the mowing head(8).
► Press and turn the spool until one of the notches (6) is
aligned with one of the eyelets(9) and one of the spool
tabs is held in place by a tab in the mowing head.
► Put the ends of the trimmer line(12) through the
eyelets(9).
► Fit the cover (2) on the mowing head. Align the tabs (1) of
the cover with the openings (11) in the mowing head.
Both tabs should click audibly into place.
► Pull on the line until the spool moves up slightly.
NOTICE
Overly long trimmer line increases the load on the motor and
reduces its operating speed. This may result in overheating
and damage to important components.
22.5 Sharpening and Balancing a Metal Cutting
Attachment
WARNING
Never use a dull or damaged metal cutting attachment.
Working with a dull blade leads to increased physical strain,
increased vibration load, unsatisfactory cutting results and
increased wear, which can result in loss of control and injury
to the operator or bystanders. A damaged cutting
attachment may vibrate, crack, break or come off the
trimmer / brushcutter, which may result in serious or fatal
injury or property damage. Make sure the cutting attachment
is sharp and in good condition before starting work.
WARNING
An improperly sharpened metal cutting attachment can
increase the risk of kickout (blade thrust) and other reactive
forces, resulting in severe personal injury or death. STIHL
recommends having your metal cutting attachment
sharpened and balanced by an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer to reduce the risk of severe or fatal injury.
