Working on the electrical equip-
ment
Work may only be performed on the electrical
equipment of the truck when it is in a voltage-
free state. Function checks, inspections and
adjustments on energised parts must only be
performed by trained and authorised persons,
taking the necessary precautions into account.
Rings, metal bracelets etc. must be removed
before working on electric components.
To prevent damage to electronic systems with
electronic components, such as an electronic
driving regulator or lift control, these compo-
nents must be removed from the truck prior to
the start of electric welding.
Work on the electrical system (e.g. connecting
a radio, additional headlights etc.) is only per-
mitted with approval from the authorised serv-
ice centre.
Working on the ignition system
To prevent personal injury and/or destruction
of the ignition system, please observe the fol-
lowing:
Only connect and disconnect ignition sys-
tem lines, including high-voltage lines and
measuring device lines, with the ignition
switched off.
If the engine is to be operated at starting
speed but not actually started (e.g. for a
compression pressure test), disconnect the
connection assembly from the ignition coil.
Use of a quick charger to jump start the
engine is only permitted for a period of up to
1 minute at max. 16.5 volts.
The engine may only be washed when the
ignition is switched off.
When performing electric or point welding,
completely disconnect the battery.
Trucks that have a fault in the ignition sys-
tem, or a suspected fault, may only be tow-
ed if the plug is disconnected from the igni-
tion coil.
