.2 INSTALLATION TYPE
It is preferable but not mandatory
to install a straight chimney section
between the unit and an offset.
In this case, a straight vertical
section must be installed
after the angle.
Step 1 Once the fireplace is in place,
make an opening between the ceiling(s)
aligning it with the chimney sections that
are installed. The opening must be large
enough to insert the chimney flue.
Step 2 Install a radiation shield below
each floor/ceiling through which the
chimney passes. At the attic level, install
a radiation shield and a flashing collar.
Step 3 Connect the chimney flues to
the ceiling starting from the previously
installed chimney section. Follow the
manufacturer's instructions.
Step 4 For the roof, install a roof
radiation shield. The roof radiation shield
must be installed so that it extends 1'
beyond the roof line.
Step 5 Install the collar.
• If the chimney is enclosed up to the
roof, use a ventilated flashing.
• If the chimney is not enclosed up to
the roof, use a regular flashing.
Step 6 Seal the joint between the
roof and the flashing using roofing
compound. For a pitched roof, place the
flashing under the upper shingles and
over the lower shingles. Nail the flashing
to the roof using roofing nails.
Step 7 Install the flashing collar around
the chimney just above the flashing. Seal
the collar around the chimney using
silicone sealant (Do not use a roofing
compound).
Step 8 Install and secure the rain cap to
the top of the chimney.
