Appendix 5 - Suffolk Sportscars ANNUAL SERVICE (or every 3000
miles)

UNDER BONNET CHECKS:
 check/clean inline fuel filter  check/clean/replace air filters
 check brake fluid level under bonnet  check battery levels; cables; clamps
 check/clean or change spark plugs (plug life 12,000 miles)  check fan belt tension
 pressure test radiator cap PRESSURE TEST TO 15lbs  check antifreeze mix -10 to -20˚C
 check distributor components  check dwell angle and timing
 check accuracy of electric cooling fan (on @ 84°- off @ 68° approx.) USE DIGITAL THERMOMETER
 check output of alternator and battery under full load. USE SPECIAL ALTERNATOR TESTE
 inspect all water hoses including heater pipe work (replace if necessary)
VEHICLE RAISED:
 remove engine oil (replace sump plug washer)  replace oil filter
 grease all nipples:  10 x rear axle assembly;  2 x pedals;  1 x steering rack;  2 x propshaft
 remove front splinned hubs to access nipples.  check rear hub carriers
 check handbrake pads and cable operation (to 4 or 5 clicks of handbrake)  check handbrake lever
mountings
 check all pipe work for leaks  check brake callipers for leaks
 remove / service front brake pads  service rear brake pads
 check/clean fuel pump filter  slave cylinder seals
 check condition of clutch master cyl  check clutch pushrod play
 check for ‘play’ in front wheel bearings  rear wheel bearings
 check gearbox oil level  differential oil level
 check ball joints  track-rod ends
 check operation of steering system: rack; column; uj’s
 check exhaust system: clamps; mountings; alignment
 check all suspension units for wear / leaks
 check tyres for wear/wheels for true running/spokes/spinners
 degrease / clean chassis, eng sump, gearbox & rear axle
 inspect front lower wishbone shaft – hex nut welds (see letter Apr 2013)
VEHICLE LOWERED:
 re-fill engine oil  check level
 check clutch reservoir fluid level
 check wheel alignment / tracking
 check/grease operation of door locks / latches
 check tyre pressures (guide: front - 24 rear + spare - 28)
 check wiper blades/arms/sweep
 check headlamp alignment check all other bulbs
