• Lock the machine controls, take out the ignition key and
position warning messages (Fig. 16) on the control lever of
the equipment.
• Inform the other operators working in the area that the ma-
chine is not running for maintenance purposes.
If necessary, place warning signs around specifi c points
so that other persons too are informed about maintenance
being carried out on the machine.
• If machine maintenance requires the machine to be inactive
for a long time, check that the warning signs are still in the
correct position before starting repair procedures.
2.7 PARKING THE MACHINE
WARNING
The machine must be parked following some baseline safety rules. Consider that the operator is
responsible for safe machine parking.
Below is a short list of baseline safety rules for parking.
• Park the machine on a fl at ground away from moving equipment, pedestrians or traffi c areas.
• Lock the side boom in vertical position after having removed the load. Lock all the controls in place.
• Lock all the machine areas that are supplied with a safety lock device.
• Take out the ignition key, engage the parking brake in “stop” position and lock the controls.
Make sure that no access can be gained to the control station and that the fuel and oil tanks are pa-
dlocked in order to prevent tampering with the machine when it is left unattended.
