4.4.4 EMERGENCY STOP
This operations causes disengagement of all the machine controls including the diesel engine.
The emergency stop button must be pressed exclusively in situations requiring it.
To reset the machine operating functions, perform the start-up operations described in section «4.4.1
PIPE LAYER START-UP».
WARNING
DO NOT START the machine before the problem causing the emergency stop is identifi ed and
removed.
4.5 MACHINE OPERATION
DANGER
PAY ATTENTION DURING LIFTING AND HANDLING OF HEAVY MATERIAL. THESE OPERATIONS
CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF GREAT CARE IS NOT TAKEN IN CARRYING THEM OUT. ASK UNAU-
THORIZED PERSONS TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE AREA.
CLEAR FENCE LIFTING/BEFORE A LOAD, MAKE SURE THAT WIRE ROPE PERFECT CONDI-
TIONS.
IN ADDITION THIS, ENSURE AREA CLEAR THERE ENOUGH “RUN-SPACE”, NAMELY FREE SAFE
MOVE TO, SHOULD HANDLED LOAD FALL DOWN DUE BRISK MOVEMENT OR ANY OTHER RE-
ASON WHATSOEVER.
CORRECT SELECTION HARNESSES PLAYS FUNDAMENTAL ROLE: DO SELECT RIGID MATERIAL
SUCH AS TIE RODS MADE ROUND BARS STEEL SECTIONS, BECAUSE THESE MAY COME OUT
HOOK AN OBSTACLE HIT.
In any case:
1) avoid brisk jerking and braking when lifting loads;
2) prevent harnesses from slackening in the hook should the load be temporarily deposited or positioned
on a support;
3) prevent the harnesses from getting entangled in obstacles;
4) ensure that the lock latch is in perfect conditions.
DANGER
Load release from the hook is an extremely serious event which may involve persons and objects
even if they are far from the operating position.
Periodically check the wire rope and hooks depending on the conditions of use. Be extremely
cautious during these checks after great chills or when operation is required in unusual work
conditions, i.e. operation in special sites as well as lifting of extremely heavy loads.
