REPLACE ROD END
1: Raise the front of the vehicle and support with
jack stands.
2: Loosen the rod end clamp or jam nut on the drag
link.
3: Remove the nut or bolt holding the rod end onto
the steering arm.
4: Remove the rod end from the steering sleeve
counting the number of turns required to remove.
5: Install the new rod end into the steering sleeve.
Screw it into the sleeve the same number of turns
counted in the previous step. Do not tighten the
rod end clamp or jam nut at this time.
6: Install the rod end into the steering arm. Tighten
the rod end nut per torque listed in the Hardware
Torque table at the end of this section.
• If replacing the rear rod end, then install new
safety wire as shown in the illustration.
7: Align the front wheel. Refer to the Align
Steering in this section for information regarding
realignment of the front wheel.
8: Lower the vehicle.
9: Reconnect the Battery.
10: Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
11: Test drive the vehicle.

WARNING
REPLACE STEERING WHEEL
Note: The steering wheel is on a tapered shaft and
may be damaged when it is removed.
1: Remove the steering wheel nut.
2: Using a steering wheel puller, remove the
steering wheel.
3: Position the front wheels in the straight ahead
position.
4: Lightly grease the steering wheel splines and
install the replacement steering wheel orientated
as shown in the illustration.
5: Tighten the steering wheel nut to torque listed
in the Hardware Torque table at the end of this
section.
6: Reconnect the battery.
7: Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
8: Test drive the vehicle.
