Conventions
Throughout these procedures the following conventions apply:
Each test procedure uses the following general format:

Procedure
Each procedure consists of as many steps, substeps, and subparts as required
to do the test. Steps, substeps, and subparts are sequenced as follows:
1. First Step
a. First Substep
First Subpart
Second Subpart
b. Secon
dSubstep
2. Second Step
In steps and substeps, the lead-in statement in italics instructs you what to do,
while the instructions that follow tell you how to do it, as in the example
step
below:
Initialize t he instrument: Push the front-panel Default Setup button.
STOP.TheSTOP notation at the left is accompanied by information you must
read to do the procedure properly.
The term "toolbar" refers to a row of buttons at the top of the display. The
term "menu bar" refers to a row of menus at the top of the display. You can
s
witch between toolbar and menu bar operating modes by using the menu at
the top right of the toolbar or menu bar. (See Figure 3-1.)
Item numbers in the equipment required lists refer to the equipment. (See
Table 3-2 on page 3-19.)
