CalibratingtheSpreader
Calibratethespreadereachtimeanewmaterialisused.The
spreadercanbroadcastmaterialinapattern1.5to6.7m
(5to22ft)widedependingonthematerialparticlesize,
volume/density,andrateoftravel,andwindconditions.
RefertothespreadingchartsalongwithDetermining
theDistributionPattern,DeterminingtheEffective
SpreadingWidth,andCalculatingtheApplicationRate
sectionstocalibratethemachine.
DeterminingtheDistributionPattern
Operatorsuppliedequipment:15shallowcollectionpans
and15graduatedmeasuringcylinders
Themostaccuratemethodtomeasurethedistributionis
touseshallowcollectionpansandgraduatedmeasuring
cylinders.Intheexamplebelow ,15shallowcollectionpans
approximately30cm(12inches)wide,91cm(36inches)
long,and5cm(2inches)tallareused.
1.Allowampledrivingdistancebeforetheareawherethe
collectionpansarelocatedtoensurethatthemachine
istravelingatthedesiredspeed(forspreading)before
themachinereachesthecollectionpans.
2.Placeonepaninthecenterofthedrivepath.Arrange
thenexttwopans,oneoneachside,farenoughapartto
allowadequateroomforthedrivetiresofthemachine
topassaroundthecenterpan.
