Theplatform,whendownandlockedintoposition,must
extendbackbetweentherearwheelsandservesasastop
fortippingbackward.Havingafull-widthrampprovides
asurfacefortheplatformtocontactifthemachinestarts
totipbackward.Withtheplatformup,afull-widthramp
providesasurfacetowalkonbehindthemachine.
•Therampshouldbelongenoughsothattheanglesdo
notexceed15degrees(Figure55).Asteeperanglemay
causethechassistogetcaughtasthemachinemoves
fromramptotrailerortruck.Asteeperanglemayalso
causethemachinetotipbackward.Ifloadingonornear
aslope,positionthetrailerortrucksoitisonthedown
sideoftheslopeandtherampextendsuptheslope.This
willminimizetherampangle.Thetrailerortruckshould
beaslevelaspossible.
